Nick Young Hilariously Thanks Santa for Getting D’Angelo Russell Off the Lakers
Nick Young is clearly excited about the Los Angeles Lakers’ decision to trade D’Angelo Russell to the Brooklyn Nets, and he didn’t hold back his feelings in a recent social media post. In a fiery video, Young shared his reaction to the move, humorously thanking Santa for the “Christmas present” of getting rid of his former teammate.
"Lakers are moving in the right direction. Oh, little D-Lo is gone," Young said, expressing his excitement. "Okay, okay, now we're in motion. I see you, Robert. Robert Pelinka, I see you. Wish we could’ve gotten something, but you know what? They were like, 'Fck it. I just can't even look at this na no more, man. Give us some Starbucks for free for all year and y'all can have this n*a. Caramel Macchiato and he was gone.'"
Young then continued with a playful warning to Russell: "Don't you come back. If I see anything about you around L.A., don't you think of purple. Don't even think of gold. Purple? Don’t wear no gold chain. Don’t even think about bringing your ass back here." He concluded with a joke, thanking Santa for delivering the ultimate gift of Russell’s departure.
The tension between Young and Russell dates back to Russell’s rookie year, when he secretly recorded Young discussing his relationships with other women during a private conversation. At the time, Young was dating Iggy Azalea. Reflecting on the incident in a recent appearance on the Gil’s Arena podcast, Young recalled how he was made to look like the "bad vet" for being recorded, which ultimately led to him being sent home. "They made me look like the bad vet … For being recorded, I got sent home," he said, as reported by the New York Post.
Young’s comments are a mix of humor and lingering frustration, but it’s clear he’s happy to see the end of this chapter in L.A.
