Ariana Television to Host and Broadcast the Ariana Snooker Championship in February

Ariana Radio & Television Network (ATN) is excited to announce the production and broadcast of the upcoming Ariana Snooker Championship, set to take place in Kabul in mid-February 2025.

The tournament will span from February 11 to February 17 and will feature the top 16 snooker players from across the country.

“We are proud to be signing a contract for this snooker tournament today. At Ariana Television, our mission has always been to foster both domestic and international sports, delivering them to our audiences across Afghanistan in a high-quality and efficient manner. This event is part of our ongoing commitment to advancing sports and supporting the sports community in Afghanistan, and we hope it will draw more attention to snooker,” said Lutfullah Stanikzai, Deputy Managing Director and Director of Sales and Acquisitions at ATN.

Wahidullah Asghari, Head of the National Snooker Federation of Afghanistan, commented: “The signing of this agreement between the National Snooker Federation and Ariana Television is a significant step towards the growth and development of snooker, encouraging and inspiring the youth to take an interest in this prestigious sport. It also helps raise awareness of the Federation’s activities.”

Both ATN and the Snooker Federation believe that hosting such events will play a key role in advancing the sport of snooker within the country.

“In many regions of Afghanistan, snooker is played, but the sport lacks the necessary infrastructure. We believe that events like these will have a positive impact and contribute to a bright future for snooker in Afghanistan,” Mr. Stanikzai stated.

Mr. Asghari added, “Broadcasting these competitions through Ariana Television, a renowned global network, will significantly aid in expanding the popularity of snooker from the capital to the provinces and even to smaller towns and villages.”

Additionally, the tournament will feature two Afghan refugee snooker players who are currently residing in Iran and Pakistan.
